Heated stones have been used in massage since ancient times for healing purposes, with historical accounts in existence from as long ago as 2000 years. Many cultures, including Chinese and Romans, incorporated hot stones into their leisure activities as well as medicinally.
This massage is a fusion of Eastern and Western advanced stone techniques, resulting in a seamless dance of stone and hands-on massage. Perfect for those with chilly hands and feet.
The use of heated stones warms and relaxes muscles, allowing a deeper treatment without too much pressure, which can help to alleviate common pain patterns in neck, back and shoulders.
The use of hot stones also improves circulation and calms the nervous system, leaving you with a deep sense of relaxation.
Basalt stones, smoothed and rounded naturally by the Pacific Ocean are heated to around 50 degrees and used to massage the body. They can also be placed at key points on the body to rebalance energy flow.
Treatment length: at least 60 minutes. The full massage incorporating hands and feet lasts 90 minutes, or a deluxe version is available including scalp and face, which lasts an indulgent 120 minutes/2 hours.
Please note all hot stone treatments must be booked at least 30 minutes in advance to allow for heating time. I currently only offer hot stones treatment at Neal’s Yard Remedies in Manchester.
